What is a cat show? A cat show is just like a dog show only the cats are in pens to be judged rather then walked around a ring. The cats are put in pens with white blankets, water bowls, food bowls and cushions. The owners evacuate from the hall untill a specific time when they can come back in. In that time the judges go round and judge the cats. By going round with a table on wheels. They take the cat out of the pen and hold it up and have a look at how beautiful the cat is. Then they put it back in before writing up a critique about them and placing them in a place. Most of the time the places will be either first, second or third but sometimes maybe more. The judge will put your cat in the place they think it deserves. For this you get a rosette and a small certificate. While you are out of the hall you can keep an eye on the results board which will be near the hall. All the results will be put up here for you to check. So when the specific time comes round you go in feed your cat and enjoy the rest of your day! Translations:
Critique = It is the opinion of the judge on the cat. |
What you do at a show. After putting your cat in their pen you will be asked to leave the hall. Most of the time this can be quite boring but if you bring a book or something else to do there will always be a place to sit down. If not the car is fine! Sometimes there is a swimming pool or a gym. But most of the exhibitors sit around talking and writing things down in the lobby or cafe. Thats about it really but when you come back in you can watch the best in shows if they have them. Translations:
Best in show = When three specific judges pick out the best cat of the breeds and then narrow it down to the best cat in the show. |
Can i show my cat? If you have a pedigree/non-pedigree/pedigree pet that is fully vacinated de-flea'd clean and healthy friendly tick free Then yes you can show your pedigree!!!!!! If you have a moggie (non pedigree) it must be all the same as them but be immaculatley clean even though the judges judge it on personality rather than looks.
Translations:
Vacinated = Injections up to date for the cat de-flea'd = making sure there is no fleas present on the cat. Tick free: Ticks are small little flea like animals which can be painful for the cat.
